The AMCP Foundation will unveil new research findings at the Symposium, focused on Anticipating Disruptors in Health Care Trends. Industry experts will unveil the latest research findings on key trends impacting the health care industry. Speakers Matt Sarnes, PharmD, and Breanna Popelar, PharmD, MS, both from Xcenda, will share research findings from a variety of stakeholder perspectives on these complex and interrelated topics affecting the future of health care – from innovative and curative therapies to expedited drug approval to challenges in patient affordability.

Social determinants of health (SDoH), and application of SDoH to improve care, is such a forcing factor. Learn from practitioners who implemented care delivery models based on SDoH, and from researchers examining use of SDoH by plans. Karl Kilgore, PhD, of Avalere will be recognized with an AMCP Foundation Best Poster Award for his work in this area. In collaboration with JMCP, Dr. Kilgore will deliver a podium talk on “Using Aggregate Data to Proxy Individual-Level Socioeconomic Characteristics: The Role of Granularity.”

Additional panelists will provide a peek into The Practice of Pharmacy in the Future, and an analysis of how Managed Care Pharmacy is Preparing for the Future. The program will conclude with a series of stakeholder presentations about Perspectives on Innovations in Health Care. These speakers were selected to reveal actionable insights from the patient, physician, health plan and employer communities. Each will illustrate the implications if managed care fails to address the significance of these trends.
